At the extraction of the parrot fortune telling cards from the heap of torn pieces of paper take part only origami parrots. Following their own nature, they imitate what they extract, namely bits of text that they don’t understand at all. Still, the extraction predicts the future, it reveals the crystal ball of divination, the Palantir of Tolkien’s universe, represented here in an “improved” version, as a naval mine. Thus, an allusion is made to the online universe, in which the mimetic act finds new ways of fulfilment through navigation, as well as to the conspiracy theories, marketplace versions of some counter-terrorism activities, such as the one performed by the USA software company Palantir Technologies Inc.
