By representing a character caught in a confetti storm, the painting hypostasizes a form of resistance. Bent under his broken tricolored umbrella that he uses as a shield, it’s obvious that the character being cut out and painted in black and white is at the chromatic antipode of his context, he’s a stranger which does not belong in the movie that’s playing around him and that also plays him in a menacing kind of merriment.
